Located in the historic art district of downtown Memphis, the National Civil Rights Museum is the site of Martin Luther King's assassination at the Lorraine Hotel on April 4, 1968. The exhibit follows the civil rights movement from 1619 to 2000 and exists to show the impact of human rights movements worldwide.

  • Closed Every Tuesday
  • Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday: 9 am-5 pm
  • Sunday: 1–5 pm
  • Free Period on Mondays (except holidays) for TN residents (see below):  3-5 pm

  • Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday: 9 am-6 pm
  • Free Period (Mondays):  3-6 pm
  • Sunday: 1-6 pm
  • The museum is open for tours on Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day holidays
